Today we’re happy to present SEGG. Up and coming French producer started moving his first steps in music since at a young age, but his first vibes were actually brought to life as a result of the years he spent in Switzerland during his youth. He learned how to play guitar, piano, bass, drums and developed a strong vocal ability and his first influences were from folk melodies to traditional world music.

He then discovered electronic music in between Lausanne, Berlin and New York, and matured a passion in producing electronic music, which went hand in hand with his classical and jazz training background.

Nostalgic harmonies rooted in the dynamic rhythms that transport crowds all around, from the mountains of Switzerland to the blocks of concrete of the German clubs..
Just like a photographer, Segg seamlessly blends these two extremes with his unique emotional touch.

Moving to London was a big step towards the start of his music career by, entering Point Blank music school to refine his production skills.

His first projects were well received from the industry, with supports from Acid Pauli, Nicole Moudaber, Bedouin, Timujin, Lee Van Dowski, Sasha, Richie Hawtin, Maceo Plex, Eli & Fur. He s actually finalising some new exciting projects, including a new EP with Keybe out very soon..

Balance Selections 010: Patrice Bäumel by BalanceSeries

This is music I love. Here is the soundcloud description below. Enjoy!
If you walked into any club worth its salt back in 2009, chances were pretty high you would encounter one of the most outrageous tracks to be released that year. Patrice Bäumel’s ‘Roar’ (on Get Physical records) was a perfect slice of techno/house/electronica madness, a track so woundly tied up that you could physically feel the anxiety rise up in your body in anticipation for what was about to happen. That release heralded a new force on the scene and can rightly be considered as Bäumel’s breakout track. Fast forward 6 years later, and the ex-Trouw resident has attained a level of maturity with his sound that few artists reach, a fact that has not gone unnoticed by major players like K7, Systematic, Diynamic, Trouw and Turbo, all of whom has released his music at some point. Part of the Kompakt stable now, Baumel has been spreading his house/techno gospel all around the world, delivering the sort of epic, yet somehow restraint sets, that will make you seek all of his online mixes afterwards. He really has been going about his business in a way that is admirable and non-fussy, describing what he does as ‘techno music for grown-ups’ – a very apt description indeed. One read of his excellent interview below really paints a picture of an artist who just LOVES music, and it really shows in the tracklisting which features a host of obscure, yet excellent selections. And we are pleased to say that his Balance podcast might just go down as a stone cold classic.

Afterlife Voyage 003 by Patrice Bäumel by Afterlife

This is music I love. Here is the soundcloud description below. Enjoy!
The third episode in Afterlife’s Voyage podcast series comes from the label’s latest signing, Patrice Bäumel. Ahead of the release of ‘Glutes’/’Engage’ (http://bit.ly/AL004Glutes) on May 12, Patrice ushers in the Summer with a tour through carefully-selected, feel-good records. Subtle, driving and uplifting in equal parts, this Voyage is mixed with the elegance and expertise of someone with over two decades experience behind the decks.

As displayed by his 2016, Kompakt track ‘Surge’ (a hit in the sets of Tale Of Us), remixes of Depeche Mode or Cubiculor and the upcoming AL004, Patrice is a master of transmitting energy and emotion through his synth lines, arrangements and perfectly-timed vocal sections. He is equally adept as a DJ and this Voyage is a stellar example. Over the 1h45m run time, you’re guaranteed to be moved in body and mind. A soundtrack for the summer.

deep story nr. 63 | optische Täuschungen | by Sascha Kloeber by Deep Stories

This is music I love. Here is the soundcloud description below. Enjoy!
Tracklist: http://ift.tt/2s4XxLk

english translation below

An optical illusion is a truly mystifying phenomenon which leads many people astray every day. That’s because our brain connects the observations of our eyes with something that the brain has already experienced before. So, if you look at a picture of Donald Duck but you’re convinced that you see Bugs Bunny, does this mean that you’re out of your mind? Well, it’s not as simple as that.
The research of the sense of vision is a complex domain of science and the cases are often more complicated to interpret than a tax law. But it’s clear that these bizarre phenomena are no coincidence. The brain thinks it knows everything better when eyesight is concerned and it won’t hesitate to distort the objective observations of the eyes.
There is an old folk wisdom which says ‘what the brain doesn’t know, it’s unable to see’. In such cases the brain prefers to guess what the eyes may have seen and tries to match the observation with something familiar it knows already. Sounds complicated?
Did you ever wonder why some people see faces in profile while others see the young lady, while they are all looking at the same picture? Or why some people see a vase while other see a face while observing the same thing?
The people who can see through this masquerade of their own making have unleashed the power to rise above the limitations of their own brain.

This deep story is a journey through the unsettling world of delusions and illusions. Such a hazardous trip is only recommended under the competent supervision of a guide with a sharp mind and a clear vision. And we found the perfect guide for this delicate mission: Sascha Kloeber.
